I find this contradictory. If we can manifest our desires by merely changing our mindsets, then why do we need to be humble? What has humility to do with manifesting our desires? Why is humility important?

I believe that humility is power. Or should I say that I believe that power is derived from humility. Just as it is derived from the application of other spiritual principles. Such as; honesty, patience, tolerance, forgiveness, willingness, open mindedness, trust, surrender, service, gratitude, good will, faith, courage, acceptance, ect, ect.
That is, of course, unless the power you are referring to is the illusion of power that you might get from the idea of possession and control. I refer to this as an illusion simply because I believe that the only thing one can possess is wisdom, and the only thing a person can control is themselves. I also believe that if you have any wisdom or self-control, then you're probably practicing humility anyway.
In conclusion, I feel that the practice of humility rewards us with knowledge-of-self and spiritual confidence. I do not feel that the awareness of personal power constitutes the practice of ego.

This is not true. Ask the folk sent to the oven at Dachau. Ask your friend sent to the jungles in Viet Nam or the deserts of Iraq, the one who never came back, and now Afghanistan. Ask the Christians who were fed to lions.

If we are all powerful...then we are standing next to other all-powerful individuals. Chances are you will run into someone more powerful at one time or another. Humble is a way to give that person their own dues. It doesn't pay to always be arrogant and righteous with folks.

Stop right there. You can give your part in focusing on your choices, but, and read this again, but.....but..... we are only receivers of blessings as we do not carry the power directly IN US but we can only USE it as it is given to us. The blessing of our work is also independent of our will, but only will be given to us from our Creator, if we are living in accordance to HIS WILL. If you do not want to use the word Creator, then think on the natural laws as only that what is in accordance with these laws, so adapts humbly to them, surrenders to them, receives blessing and can be powerful. Only that. So we are only as powerful as we are ready to "serve" and surrender.
