Isn't it true that life can't have a purpose?

In all the different philosophies there seems to be a flaw. Maybe they can't find the answer because life can't have a purpose. Think of it. Computers have purposes, Cars have purposes, Food (once harvested it is dead) has a purpose. To be alive means to find ones purpose. What is the purpose of a tree, a dog or a man. Can any be truly defined? If life had an achievable purpose wouldn't it just be a book with a beginning middle and end. It seems to me that the need to find a purpose defines what life is. What do you think?

I think I agree.
Life isn't a person. It's people who have purposes.
Finding a purpose is part of it; achieving it is more.

I think that living the life of a computer would be equivalent to being a slave.

some people complain about not knowing their purpose but life is not robotic and defined from the start, whats the point in living if you already know exactly how things are going to be. life is organic and spread out
remember the "be like water" thing Bruce lee would talk about? water serves many purposes depending on how you decide to use it, it can supply your body or wash you or give the flowers nourishment, but it always flows. with your life you should flow like water, accomplish many things, do many things, have many purposes
and don't look back on your life and determine your level of success based on if you did your job or purpose, but look back and see what you accomplished during your course your life just so happened to take. Remember that you are going to die and keep flowing and try to have fun!

well, since living creatures try to CONTINUE living, then obviously there IS a purpose...to continue living.

what can we do while living that we can't do by not living? Answer: we can EXPERIENCE things.

so that must be the purpose.

to experience things. That's about as basic as they come. If you ask what is the purpose of experiencing things, I'm going to have to conclude that you're stupid.

Life has a purpose. When you say life, it encompasses the cosmic life, the life in the known universe and beyond. You seemingly found out the purpose of food harvested but by saying dead you put a fullstop to your own thoughts. This is because even after being a philosopher, you are in a material plane of conscousness. You forget that there is a spirit in the matter which gives it what you call Life. Life is a part of continuity, death is a part of continuity, just as day and nights are parts of a continuity in Time.

The flaw in all philosophers except the Eastern philosophers who believed in Spiritual Life and used religion as a means to the end at variance with Western philosophers who either negated religion or saw religion as the end, was neveral spiritual in their conclusions. Plato reached to a large extent to define the five elements and further finding the designs of platonic solids and the polyhedrons. He reached Aether. Whereas Aristotle never reached near Plato in spirituality. Whereas, the Sri Chakra containing 93 Tatwas(basic principles and diamensions) which in those diamensions are Architecture of the Universe is known to the ancient rshis and Maharishis of India.

The purpose of Life is to ensure continuity. The purpose of death is also to ensure continuity. When the food harvested meets the so called death, it is a sacrifcial death. Sacrifice in the sense that, they grow to give fruits to ensure continuity, the grow to give food to ensure continuity, they die to give food to ensure continuity, and if they are not harvested still they dry up to allow the water contents in their body to evaporate so that the comulative evaporatons all over the earth gives the necessary moisturre and humidity in the atomospher on the surface of earth to form clouds which brings on necessary water for next generation after death as well as the necessary water on the ground for it to decay and becomes manure and food for the future plants and trees coming in its place. Thus there is a cycle there in the so called death of non existence of its body. It is changing form only.

Having said about body which represents death, we need to know the spirit in the body which represents life. Spirit is only the dfferntiated particle of a collective consciousness which differntiates itself into each body as life and with the help of that body maintain the cntinuity of the progeny that life do not perish in those areas of universe wher life has become possible.

The possibility of Life is a conducive atomsophere where the five basic gross elements are available, four of them making the body and the fifth or the first primodial element Ether constituting the Spirit. When it comes to that element, the materially conditioned body with the same spirit in it has a difficulty to recognize itself and understand it. When I say water, people understand it very easily, the way they understand water. When I say Air they again says I have understood. If I say Air is contained in water and water is contained in Air and Water came from Air. Many people have difficulty in understanding. A spiritualist would easily understand what I said. But a blind follower of a religion or a philosopher or a common man may find it difficult to comprehend. He would need a scientist to tell him that water contains H2O both are air, and Air contains humidity which is water. And there are special instruments in the nose which controls the humidity and heat i.e. water and fire contained in the Air which we are breathing. Now that the scientists have said it, it is understood.

And who are the scientists? They are the ones who further differentiates the gross substances available in this world to their microconstituents and ultimatey reach the hydrocarbon and the Ether structures of alkaloids, amines, neurons and the like while reaching the Ether does not recognize the Ether as the very substance which is living within us as Spirit. They would say, the neurons are presents all over the body, the protein particles amines are throughout the body, a further divsion would show them pure ether. But they would not believe me that God is present through out the body, that Ether is present throughout the body, that omnipresence is there of the Spirit. This is the mistake, the grave error, that the Self does not realize the Self when coming face to face with each other. Ether does not recognize Ether because they are in many metaorphosed forms. The same spirituality is now renamed to know as Quantum Physics which is face saving for the scientists. Quantum rocks!!!

The realization when dawns that everything in this world is borne out of the five gross elements and ether is the first element and everything has to return to the same elements from it has taken form and that the first element is omnipotent, omnipresent, omnicient etc.etc. is all that is needed to know for self realization. The purpose of life will be crystal clear and visible once the Self is realized. These principles and Tatwas are realized. Wishing you well. With Blessings.

Details: to my friend tyler above. What Bruce Lee overlooked is that why water flows? It flows because it contained Air. The property of Air is movement and not of water. The tendency to move is created in water by the air in it. Air is its big brother, the immediate higher element of water is fire, and fire came from Air. You know many kinds of Air if left alone can become fire. A direct combination of Ether and Air can put the fire down. i.e. Carbon(hydrocarbon) + diooxide can put down a fire. The big brothers coaxing the younger one. Bruce Lee should have said, be like fire, then be like Air, then be like Ether(i.e. be your Self which is the highest form of Be or Be-ing)
