How can I find out what prison my old roommate is in?

I just found out that one of my old roommates was arrested and plead guilty to child porn charges.  He lived in Reno when it happened.  I want to send him a letter to express my disappointment and disgust, but I don't know where he is.  Is there a way to look up a prisoner to find out where they are?

You won't be able to send him a letter, so get over it.  

You do realize that if you happen to get an address for him and send him this nasty letter you want to, that he can in turn sue you for harassment.

I know its crazy, but the law doesn't allow people to send nasty letters to people.

Even if you find the prison he is going to.  He has to consent and paperwork has to be filled out with the prison to allow him to receive this mail.
