As a professional whose continued job depends upon good batteries for wireless devices, I use the Duracell Pro-Cell series. Through extensive trial and error for 20 years, I've found those to be the best in AA, AAA, and 9v applications.

As a consumer, I'd follow my professional preference for Duracell, but honestly, I see little difference in consumer grade AA, AAA, and 9v batteries between Duracell, Eveready, and Rayovac.

Panasonic is a division of Matsushita Electronics which is a major player in global electronics manufacturing, and they have their own battery manufacturing division for lithium-ion and other specialty batteries. But for consumer batteries, I'm not sure if they license products from other manufacturers and put their own brand name on them.

But Duracell has proven itself to me, so that's my #1 professional recommendation.

Duracell. Panasonic makes some of the cheapest junk out there.
