Who had their baby when they were 35 or 36 years old?

If I have another baby, I will be 35, almost 36 by the time he or she is born. Is this pushing it in terms of age. It would be my fourth child.

I actually had my first recently at age 37, and she's happy and healthy. It's a little harder for me to lose weight than some of my younger friends; that being said, it's coming off now that I'm exercising very regularly. To be honest, I also ate too much when I was pregnant.

My doc warned me that I was of "advanced maternal age" so that just meant they did a few more ultrasounds, and I played it safe by not exercising much during my pregnancy. (I know you can exercise during pregnancy, but I read a report that says it's safer for the baby if you wait until after 18 weeks, and by that time I was having some stretching pain so it wasn't comfortable.)

I think so. My mom had her third child at the age of 36. He is good now and everything but there were a lot of complications with him over the last 17 years. He had severe asthma and a lot of allergic reactions to almost everything. Plus the down syndrome possibility sky rockets. Even though my brother isn't like that, he still had a pretty tough life. In and out of hospitals, lots and lots of money. Hes really really smart, but that's partly because he has been sick his whole life, and couldn't do much. He's good now, still has a few asthma attacks now and then, but his allergies are mostly gone, and he can do normal things. But I think its different for everyone. There are a lot of healthy babies that are born at the age of 36.

My youngest (and 4th) baby was born when I was 38. She was not planned, but I had relatively few problems. Other than the surprise of conceiving unexpectedly when I was reliably taking birth control pills for 11 years (my older kids were 18, 15, and 12 when she was born) and developing Gestational Diabetes, things went along pretty smoothly. I know quite a few people who are in their late 30's or early 40's who are having children, sometimes their first. Good friends of ours had their first baby when she was 40 and he was 41.

It's not pushing terms of age, for example in my family:
kid #5 was born when my dad was 35
kid #6 was born when my dad was 37 & my mama was 35
kid #7 was born when my dad was 40 & my mama was almost 38

As long as you can take care of him/her it will be fine!

- As for health problems, none of them have ANY! Only two of us do, the 4th kid and me (the oldest). He was born when my dad was 34 & my mama was 31. I was born when they were in their early 20's

It's quite risky because of your age but a lot of mothers have undergone that situation so nothing to worry about as long as you're perfectly healthy. If you want more information about these kinds of things, try this site I found: http://www.PlanAFamily.com . It's a nice looking site, with good information for mothers.
