The States vs. Canada in a trade war? Is it really a war at all?

They are saying that Canada is negotiating deals with China to send their shipping lanes to Vancouver. The United States is outraged about this in an attempt to protect their industries. California feels the need to hold onto whatever industries still remain. Is this true? Is there a trade war right now between the States and Canada? Who could ever win?

There is a good possibility the USA is going down in flames. Canada is just protecting themselves.

That is all.

Canada and the USA have been great neighbours for centuries, and I do not think that will change, but when people in the US do not trade with the people in Canada, due to costs, etc. something has to be done.

Obama has already caused a huge rift by stating all materials in his new work projects must be American made. Well, that is exactly what the problem is. We trade with you so you trade with us, get it?

When you stop, we need to keep trading with someone.

Canada is trying to economically separate itself from the USA as much as possible so that when the depression hits the states in a few months, it doesn't get dragged down with the USA.

The short answer is no. Americans buy 10 times as much cheap Chinese crap as Canadians do. Shipping through Canada instead of directly to the US makes no sense.
