There's some kind of small animal in my attic, and it's digging the ceiling, trying to get through. I can't get into my attic at all, there's no stairs, and it has no floor, so how do I get rid of it? It FREAKS me out, like it's going to drop in my lap or something. I have a 6mo old kitty, but I don't dare release her up there, she might get hurt.
Okat more than likely there is a hole leading into your attic. If there are no holes in your cieling you should be safe. The way to fix your problem is to A: Find the Hoel and seal it up. Make sure not to have a squirrel up there. If it dies in your attic the smells might just drive u nuts. B: Find the hole and place wire meshing over the hole. the down side to this is you might leave a squirrels in your attic. To fix this problem make a cone shape so a squirrel can crawl out but no back in. Hope this helps.
I have had that problem and set up traps thinking of squirrels, come to find out it was Rats. Rats can climb trees, electrical lines, etc.to get into a house. The use of wire cage traps or instant kill methods to eliminate the problem is recommended. Glue traps can be moved by the animal and poisons will let the animal die in a undisclosed area that will decompose and cause a very foul odor. While trapping the animal, you need to investigate and repair the entry point('s) to prevent more from occupying your home. Since you can't get into your attic, I recommend using a Exterminator, to properly resolve you problem.
Go to your local hardware store like an Ace Hardware and buy a product called Bar Bait, it is a cake like product that you can break into pieces and you most likely have and attic access hole in a closet somewhere, standing on a ladder or chair toss pieces in various spots in the attic then forget it. The poison in Bar Bait makes the animal very thirsty so it leaves your attic to go to its water source, as soon as it drinks water it activates the poison and kills it dead, OUTSIDE of your attic so you don't have to handle a dead animal or tolerate the wonderful smell for weeks on end. I have used it on my Moms house twice and it is very effective.
im dealing with the same thing.. only its in between levels of my house. theres a few of them running in and out all times of the day.. they have dug holes in the ceiling tiles only to drop walnut shells in .. i think im gonna have to set up some rat traps with peanut butter and get them that way.. what a mess !
