When analyzing self-actuating treaties (mine is called a convention), what is the best way to analyze it?

I'm trying to analyze the important aspects of a convention which expands upon a major Human Rights Treaty (the European Convention of Human Rights, to be specific, while the expanding treaty is the Oviedo Convention (OC)). I figured that important ground to cover would be to discuss the OC's jurisdiction, scope, and enforcement mechanisms. All of this with an eye towards explaining why a certain practice would be appropriate subject matter for the OC. Any suggestions about further ground to cover other than the three things I listed above? Thank you!

Have a look at the Cartagena Declaration on Refugees, which expanded upon another major human rights treaty, the Geneva Refugee Convention.
