That is a myth.

My mother had 6 other siblings. Of the 7, I would say 3 are very selfish. Her father is also very selfish -- and he grew up as an orphan and poor.

My father came from a family of 5 -- 4 kids, 1 parent (she was a widow) -- and none of them are selfish.

I guess family size is not a predictor of selfishness.

Myth: the most selfish person I know comes from a family of 3 children. It is not how many kids you have, it is how you raise them, and whether you got yourself a selfish streak that they are likely to copy unconsciously.

Myth...I am 1 of 5 and I'd say 2 of the 5 of us are pretty darn selfish...

My husband is 1 of 4 and 3 of the 4 are pretty darn selfish.

I know of others with similar stories...

Myth.

I think it depends more on where in the family you fall than how big your family is. If a person is first born, they're supposed to be less selfish, and if someone is the baby of the family, they're supposed to be more selfish.

truth. i come from a big family. both my parents and four other sibling plus pets. when your a only child your selfish and rude because all the attention is always on you and you get what ever you want. if your from a big family like me you get to bond with different age groups. you know how to share and your polite to people. since you don't get what ever you want then you learn if you want something you have to work for it. that's what i learned. so yeah people from big families are nice pretty and are not selfish :)
