Why do people think they can't go to a doctor without insurance?
Anyone can make a doctors appointment with out insurance , why does everyone think that it has to be the emergency room?

Unless the doctor gives credit they will demand payment before you leave the office. The first or second question you will be ask before making the appointment is this: what is the name of your insurance co. If you do not have one more than likely you will not get an appointment.
Because doctors and hospitals now charge obscene amounts for basic visits. They do this because of the overhead that insurance companies cause when billing. Now a basic visit can run 100's to 1,000's of $$$. Most middle to lower class people don't have that kind of money to burn. Also if you need assistance right away and can't wait 2-4 weeks for you doctor to be available then you have to go the urgent care which is treated the same as the ER. I'll take public health care anyday because I already wait weeks to see a doctor and hours once I'm in the office and I pay 1000s a year for this BS.
Doctor's offices tend to want payment for services rendered on the spot, unless you have insurance. If you cannot pay up front, they aren't likely to deal with you. However, every place I ever lived had a "free clinic" for basic medical needs/treatment. I don't know why people go to the ER instead of the clinic in their area.
Even the ER will send them a bill...it's just not likely to get paid in a very timely fashion.
because a doctor's office requests payment up front which is usually a couple hundred dollars that most people don't have, whereas an emergency room is legally bound to see you without any form of payment up front.
