Is it better to put in gaped spark plugs or to gap them?

Usually they will come pre-gapped if they have multiple points or are more expensive plugs like iridium. Others - usually the cheaper brands do not but either way I would double check them to be sure you get the best mileage and performance out of your vehicle.

Spark plugs usually are gapped from the factory pretty close to most specs. But they bang around during shipping and packing, and the gaps could close some. I always check and set the gap when the plugs are installed to make sure they are correct.

Depends on the car. If you drive a performance car you don't want the factory gap (if you've added things); but then again you'd probably using plugs that are colder (fire less) than recommended plugs. But generally factory gap is what you want for a daily driver unless you want to mess with the idle rpm to save gas.

There is a decal under the hood. near the radiator shroud. It has the proper gap for your s/plugs. Yes they come gapped in the box, but may not be correct for your eng. Some plugs will fit other engs. but are gapped different for each eng.

re-gap them to make sure that it is correct for your vehicle.
