have not bought one yet but looking for 40-60gb hdd camcorder that will easily connect to bikes 12v system. would not mind wiring in cig lighter but do not want to go inverter route.OR is there a model with 4 hr batt/rec life?

You are able to get converters from 12v to XXv depending on your camera. Some camcorders will work while the camera is on charge, some don't, you may even be able to get one from the makers, probably the most expensive but its not going to void you warranty.
You can get higher powered batteries, probably the easiest to use, but they are going to be expensive compered to the lighter option. and if you do not need to be able to walk about with the camera then I think thats the best choice
