Which hurts less?
I am getting my wisdom teeth removed on Tuesday, and I want to know if it's less painful than a root canal. I hear root canals can make grown men cry. Will a wisdom teeth extraction be the same?

Well maybe 20 years ago a root canal may have made a grown man cry but with modern day technology and anesthesia pain is no longer an issue with root canal procedures. Modern day root canals after lidocaine and nitrous gas are no longer painful trust me I have performed a few during the past couple of weeks as part of my clinic duty and do not worry. As for extraction which tends to be more painful but depending on dentist extraction may be a better idea talk to your dentist.

I do appreciate your response and you are right about some dentist failing to get all of the nerve, with modern dentistry that is quite hard to do though and most dentist swill use the x-ray, files. and a machine to double and triple check the length of the canals to make sure they remove every bit of nerve and while even though not even that is 100% accurate more than 80% of most root canals are successful and yes there can be some lingering pain afterwords but that does not usually last. Seeing an endodontist otherwise known as a root canal specialist, usually costs more, but has a higher success rate and less chance that any part of the nerve is left in the tooth. Also experienced dentist will usually do the same quality job as any endodontist.
