Am I the only one worried about people that are clearly a little off?

Am I the only person who is worried about the radicals in this country? I consider myself a person who votes for the best candidate depending on my point of view, not any particular ideology. Am I the only one worried about the rabid right and left? Is their a single middle of the road person left in this country?

Personally- I am scared a lot by reading this board, am I the only one freaked out by this stuff?

Actually, radicals don't scare me at all.

They just strike me as individuals who think they can control things that are ultimately beyond their control by being vociferious about things they think will affect the desired change, little realizing that whatever supposed change they achieve will be done purely because of the policies and interests of those whom are championing the respective causes.

The radicals achieve NOTHING.

You are definitely not alone in being worried. Americans by far are mostly 'center-right' In the middle of most issues, but a little more on the conservative side. Unfortunately, what we hear about most is the fringes on each side. The new broadcasters, tv and radio stations are often biased one way or another. You must listen enough to all in order to find out the extremes. Find the nespapers, magazines, news programs, radio hosts that show and speak mostly of what you believe in..Try not to get in too many discussions with the far lefties or the far righties. There are very good radio and tv shows that can be entertaining and give you a chance to figure out what is true and what is not. I personally stay away from all the loonies on either far side. But I did listen to many, determined who I thought was fair, and presented facts and stated they believe as I do, so I can form my own opinions. Listen or see all of them for at least a week, then choose your 'news' friends wisely. Then you be informed and they extremists will not worry you so much. Over 1/2 of the us in this country feels the same as you. Welcome.

The radicals have always been around from what I can tell. I think they have a place. It's another perspective.

There are some that would or could argue that your approach is not the best approach b/c you don't seem to stand for anything. You don't have any principles? I don't necessarily agree with that but I can see why it might be argued that way. For me, I try to look at as many sides of an issue as I possibly can to try to find the whole truth. I base my votes on that - it annoys people on both sides who want me to hold fast to a position or candidate and stay there. What they don't seem to realize is that I'm focused on results.

Most people are middle. I am and have always been. I sometimes drift to the left and I sometimes drift to the right. I'm actually trying to find my place.

I'm left on many issues but when it comes to fiscal responsibility - I'm fiscally conservative and that does actually mean sometimes supporting the democratic candidate. I'm for a single payer universal health care system b/c I want to take the profit out of it. It fits with my personality. I'm not money driven. I'm task driven. We are taught to be money driven but I can't seem to get there. It's not what primarily drives me. I'm a hard worker. I give my best. I want to improve and be the best. It's a goal for me. I don't want to beat others or make the most money or get the most accolades. That drives some people but it's never driven me. Is my way wrong? No - it's right for me. I can sleep at night. I'm a good person. I'm not selfish and egotistical. I'm not judgmental. I'm happy. If supporting a single payer universal health care system makes me a radical left then ok. I think you have 0 if you don't have your health. You can't pursue anything but recovery. I don't want anyone to be sick and alone.

Ideally - we need more people with open minds and open hearts. People that can listen and debate fairly - truthfully. Some people want you to tell them what to think and what to do. I can't do that - it annoys my right wing friends. I get annoyed when my right and left wing friends try to use fear or even little threats. It's not useful.

No the right wingers scare me the most but the left's responce is scarry as well. What we need is some common since people running things that are willing to listen to both sides and take the middle ground.

There are still plenty of middle of the road, sane people left. They don't hang out in political QA sites.

The stuff you see on here is pretty far out. It doesn't reflect the feelings of the "normal" people in America. There are lots of normal, middle of the road people that have never even heard of this site and don't waste their time on political QA sites.
