I have read a million questions pertaining to games on the PC. Why do you people bother? True, there are titles on PC that are out for other next gen consoles which are better to play on the PC, but not many. Questions that begin like "I just downloaded blah blah blah for PC and blah blah blah blah blah. If you aren't playing the Sims or some MMORPG then do yourself a favor and get in the now. Go buy a console for god's sake. Better graphics and sound quality (barely) are not even close to enough to get me to spend $2000+ dollars on a computer that can't even handle a decent gaming library. So I ask again, why???

The utility of PC far exceeds a console. PCs are coming down in price and are always more powerful and more customizable than consoles are. Many game have better support on PC, run better, and have longer lives and more replay value with modding. FPS are more fun and challenging with more precise controls, and the ability to host private servers. More easy to play with your friends and people you know online, takes up less space for a crisper picture. The ability to bind more commands to key makes for more intense and fast gameplay since you don't have to flip through as many menus, and the keyboard mouse combo its more intuitive. I find it more immersive on PC because I'm much closer to the screen and my whole field of view is on the screen. Sitting on the couch playing a console isn't quite as good, and the screen clarity leaves something to be desired. As for not handling the gaming library, some developers are taking to the ideology that no matter how resource intensive they make their games, the technology will catch up so they can do what they want on a PC and people will buy it and upgrade to make it playable, thats bad business on the developers. Consoles they are more limited in the hardware specs so they have to develop to that specific setup. Spending 2,000+ on a computer will last you a very long time with a little upgrading as time passes, but 1000 will do just as well for the same time period and still do better than a 360. Besides, I already own a Wii, thats something that PCs can't touch because it does things different. Consoles need to find their place, because PCs aren't going anywhere.
The graphics and playablility ARE vastly superior. It does vary from game to game too, though. Recent examples would be Batman: Arkham Asylum (freeflow combat designed for console) and Dragon Age: Origins (vastly superior on PC, micromanaging, whole new level of gameplay). Another point that you bring up that I consider fallacious is the 2000$ point. For a great gaming PC you need a good processor and an excellent graphics card, that's it. Spend 600$ and you'll be playing with far better graphics and quality than a console, sound and everything. On a more serious tone, PCs have always been considered first in gaming to Consoles. Compare Windows to Mac. Mac is very pretty and works great, will never mess you around and you don't need to mess around with the parts every year, though it doesn't compare to PC on a gaming level.
