Why are there never any questions about Koln? Is the city THAT boring?
I've heard the shopping is quite good and the restaurants interesting (especially the fish places). Anyone have any addresses to recommend and to dispel any myth that Koln is a "dead" city?

Most of the American People vistiing Germany make " Europe in 5 Days" in a hurry. Köln ist not boring. But there are people, thinking Germay is Bavaria, all people are wearing Leather trousers an Dirndl. They have no Time fpr the whole country. The musts are: Berlin, Munich, Oktoberfest, Bavarian Bier, Castle Neuschwanstein and so on. You can have a look. I send you the web-sites of the Cologne Tourist Board. (most of the sites for Tourists do have a language button). I live near Cologne.
The city is called Köln or Koeln if you do not have the German Umlaut. It is neither dead nor boring, just most American tourists go to Munich the rest of Bavaria and to Berlin.Köln has good shoping streets close to the catherdral fine restaurants though I would prefer eating fish closer to the sea cost e.g. in Hamburg. Köln also is one of the oldest cities in Germany a roman founding and you have close to main station and cathedral some roman ruines and the Römisches Museum absolutely worth visiting if you are in to history another great attrction is the cathedral itself one of the biggest in Germany.
I have worked there some time. Cologne has not much worth to see --- the Dome (Germany´s largest cathedral and some roman ruins) but Cologne has a good atmosphere --- it is Germany´s gay city No. 1. you will like the liberal mind combined with very hearty people. Hamburg is more liberal, but we are colder. You will like it there.
