Is this the Black History Millenium or what?

Question

Ok, first off.  I don't look black and technically I am not black.  But, just for the record, if you go far enough back into my ancestors, you will find that I do have "some African roots" of my own.

But what's up with all the black stuff?  We have a black President.  The new Miss America is black.  Ok, so fine.  Blacks are coming-out on top in fair competitions.  But now I go to the Yahoo main page and I see images of more and more black notables from history.  Lo and behold!  Yes, it's black history month.  But why stop there?  Let's just make it a black history millennium so make all the knee-jerk liberals (the ones that live in all white gated communities) happy.  I was thinking about visiting the Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC and looked on their website.  Yes, for sure, they also have some sort of tie-in with African American culture.

Can we just give this a rest please?  I am embarrassed to be even partly black.  My mostly black friends and I...we just want an even chance in the world.  You know, not be treated differently.  Or, as Martin Luther King basically said, 'We don't want to be judged by the color of our skin, but rather, by the content of our character.'

So, will all the well meaning white anglo saxon protestants please lay-off the black stuff?

Nothing is more scary for a black American then the day us white Americans stop seeing color. I mean really how can you have an agenda if all of America stops seeing color? If I were a black man I would be proud of it. I would make no point that I have any white in me. I would know my black history and I would expect the very same treatment as any white where ever I went. I would honor Dr. King by seeing everyone as a human being and not use my color as an excuse and yes I would let my black children play with white children like Dr. King wanted. Like Dr. King I would move forward and stop living in the darn past. If your black then be black and be proud of it. 

I am not proud of my newest feelings I started having towards many (not all)  African Americans and their, we are picked on agenda and their refusal to grow out of it. How can we possibly  move forward as a society if cultures of certain color want to keep stepping backwards?

Black History Month is a load of bollocks as far as I'm concerned. Dividing history up into racial categories is a ridiculous, artificial division with little intellectual merit. It's also deeply patronising and obnoxious, the idea that 'black' history needs its own month implies it's not important enough to merit attention the rest of the year.

Speaking as a white British Protestant, I couldn't give a crap if someone's white, black or green. If you can get somewhere on merit then good for you, if you're not good enough then don't expect any special favours because of your skin pigmentation or cry that you're being discriminated against because in truth you suck.

The Jews, they went with the aid of hundreds of years of slavery, and persecution. And nonetheless are dealing with persectuion in Israel. to no longer point out the holocaust. The blacks, they went with the aid of a terrible background of slavery that's terrible and sickening yet no longer as undesirable because of the fact the jews. and that i dont pick to pay attention something approximately blacks being discriminated against anymore. definite there are some biggots that discriminate, yet that takes place in ALL races which comprise whites.
