GM OBD II Code what do they mean?

I pulled several codes from a 95' Monte Carlo Z34. Basically I want to blow this car up but my wife wants me to try to get it running for our son. Some of the codes are relativly easy, but there are several that have me scratching my head. I have tried looking these up but only get the "main description" not what it actually means in laymans terms. The codes are P1530, P1640 and P1650. I can find NO info on P1530. I find that P1640 and P1650 are "output driver module 1 circuit (1640) and 2 circuit (1650). Great. What the hell does this mean? Replace the muffler? LOL. Anyone ever run across these before?

My guess is you have a wiring problem, which could be expensive to find & fix. The 1530 relates to the A/C pressure Sensor circuit. A defective A/C pressure sensor will cause the code, as well as faulty wiring. The P1640 and 50 could also be wiring issues, or a PCM problem. I would check the wiring from the transmission to the PCM,looking particularly for any shorts around the AC accumulator, because that seems to be a common issue, and that could cause the P1640 and 1650 as well.

You can take the car to your local auto parts store. They should have a code scanner available. Then they should be able to tell you what the codes mean and what needs to be repaired. The other alternative is to take it to a repair shop and let them give you an estimate on the repairs. Then you can go back to your wife and tell her the good news.
