PC error; 'windows failed to load b/c critical system driver is missing, corrupt'?
*I am not computer savvy.*
so... I restarted my computer after it was being slow and this error came up. other details:
File: \Windows\System32\Drivers\vshnlt.sys
Status: 0xc000025
And it says something about putting a disc in. The only one I have is labeled "Sony Recovery" which is what I was given when I bought the computer so I put it in and of course nothing is happening.
I also cannot use any kind of safe mode - it just keeps sending me back to the black error screen.
I was also wondering that since this is probably going to end with setting it back to factory settings or something like that - I guess I was wondering if that was avoidable as I have expensive programs I bought online and as such have no install discs... so they would be gone forever? (i know it would be smarter to buy discs, but these are only downloadable)
did restart with disc in - did nothing. of course, the only way i can restart it is by holding down the power button.
