Everything returns to its source, ultimately. Do you agree?
If so, where will you return to, the earth? The ether? The Light? The Depth? The Silence? The Nothing?

It's important for a person to know where they are going when they die. And if they are able, they ought to live the life which brings it now, while they live.
Knowing where you are going, is essential, because the life you live determines it. A mans source ought to be his Soul, which if a man knows, he will do all that is able to bring it into himself. But in this world, a mans vibration can be drawn to many other things. Once source, that is, what they live from and live for, can replace what is the source of their origination. In such cases, how unfortunate would this be?

The body is of the Earth and to the Earth will it return, the Spirit is of the (Divine) Source and to the Source it will return. The body is merely the vehicle which the spirit moves through the material plane in. When the vehicle is no longer serviceable to the needs of the spirit through illness or severe life threatening injury, the spirit (driver) moves on from that body (vehicle). The pain of death is the labor pains of our birth into the next life. So to the Source we do return, but for only a short time. In the end however, when the Spirit has attained perfection of the Soul, then it will return to the Source... of which we are a direct emanation.
Everything does return to its source. As to where different aspects of self returns to, this depends upon the state it is raised up to while in the flesh. In scriptural terms the seed essence planted within our flesh from our Soul, is like the prodigal son that goes out to the Far Country, the outer darkness of mind, so as to raise up the divided potentials that exist within the lower natures of man and unite this with the inner spiritual nature of the elder brother that remains in the Father's Land working the fields that we all reside within.
Most people squander what they have received, burying it in the earth. In doing so they remain dead and most of what they believe they are is only temporal in nature and is returned to its source, which is the earth. However, to the extent they are successful in raising up their lower nature, bringing it into harmony with the pattern of Life, into perfection, by fulfilling the laws they were born under, it returns to the Light of their True Self, or Soul, which is pure consciousness.
In the Gospel of Thomas saying 84: Jesus said, “When you see your likeness, you rejoice. But when you see your images which came into being before you, and which neither die nor become manifest, how much you will have to bear!”
What is being said here is depicting the reality of what occurs when one has not brought about what is depicted as the resurrection in their life while still in the flesh. The seed that was sent out returns to the Soul, but returns as nothing more that a dead image of self that has failed to become manifest. In contradistinction to this is the reality that occurs when one comes into Oneness with their True Self while in the flesh and is able to walk the earth in the flesh while simultaneously being at One with their Soul. These lives continue to have eternal life in the Soul, the Land of our Fathers, beyond the passing of the flesh.
This is also portrayed in the Gospel of Philip in the words: "Those who say that first they shall die and (then) they shall arise are confused. If they do not first receive the resurrection (while) they live, they will not receive anything (when) they die".
Of course we should not believe everything we read. Everything I have stated can be proved by anyone that still has life and is able to walk in TheWay so as to do the work required to raise up their flesh into Oneness with the Mind and Spirit. In the end it is only self transformation and coming to Know reality through our own experience that counts for anything. We are all given opportunities through not only Grace, but also the opportunities of application and testing through challenges and what can be depicted as karma. There are many stones or dead lives in the foundation of all that eventually discover life.
There is of course much more that can be expanded upon as to what is necessary so as to the live the consecrated lifestyle and mindset necessary to become a vessel of the Light.
i wonder if the source is within us the whole time, as in energy that is inside of us that is part of the collective energy of the universe. so maybe our energy is freed when we die and then it may manifest itself again in some physical form or not. so in a sense we never really return because we never leave, life just always exists and we are all part of life. thats just a theory, i dont necessarily believe that happens.
basically, i agree, although i don't know where our energy will return to. the one thing i do know though, is that energy can not be destroyed, and our soul has to be energy, energy controlling this body. maybe once the physical body dies, we return to a collective consciousness where there is no division between energy. maybe then, we realize that we are all one and the same.
