There are no cures for such viruses. The flu virus is self limiting and will resolve spontaneously. So it's supportive therapy: rest, fluids and paracetamol.

EDIT
Unnecessary rant medicine woman. The importance of vitamin D is well documented However, it will not completely prevent the flu virus...or any virus. The only way to do that is with vaccines which produce an immune response to that specific virus. If it were that simple we'd be telling people to take supplements....wait...let me guess, you've got a conspiracy theory for that.. "big pharma want to make money"...sigh. What makes you think Mercola has the answers science has missed? He is a quack.

You have confused correlation with causation, a common mistake made by your ilk. I don't take vitamin D3 and I have never had the flu, what should I attribute that to?

You said, "Good luck and be well."

Why would you be wishing the poster luck? I asked SkepDoc earlier why the alties commonly say this at the end of their answers, he said, "because that is all they really have to offer...false hope, prayer, and good luck"

He summed it up pretty well.

Vitamin D3 is the best flu prevention. Latest studies show that adequate levels of D3 can completely prevent the flu virus. I take 5000 iu of D3 every day and I haven't had the flu in at least 8-10 years. It makes you wonder why the CDC isn't recommending Vit D3 instead of pushing the H1N1 vaccine on us??? If you are interested in reading about it go to www.mercola.com. Dr Mercola has one of the largest natural health web sites and newletters in the world and his information is well researched and free. Good luck and be well.
