Can I hook up a mono amplifier to a set of door speakers?

I have a 400 watt kicker amplifier that I was looking to run a pair of MB Quart door speakers. Would this be alright? I have only used 2 channel amps when running door speakers in the past. Thanks

You will lose the ability to balance the power to one side or the other and most mono amps are built for bass and do not give good sound quality with the mid to high range frequencies. Also the mono amp is either 4 ohm or 2 ohm for maximum power to drive subs and the MB Quart speakers are 8 ohm usually so I do not believe it would be a good idea to try. You can contact the tech support guys at www.crutchfield.com to be sure. Hope I have been helpful.

It wouldn't be worth the effort. As davis said you would lose your left/right stereo imaging which would eliminate a LOT of the sound quaity, but an even bigger issue is that the low pass filter on those amps is not defeatable. The highest frequency your speakers would play at the reference level is 200hz, rolling off quickly above that. Almost all the frequency range of your speakers would be filtered out by the amp.
