How do I clear up a laryngitis throat?
I am in 2 choirs and I ended up with laryngitis. I'm supposed to have practice tomorrow but I sound like a croaking frog. How can I get my singing voice back?

Gargle with a mixture of whiskey and honey- it tastes bloody disgustin', quite frankly, but believe me, hon, it DOES work, (and before any bugger gives me the bloody thumbs-down for that suggestion, it was me old VOCAL COACH who recommended that particular remedy to me!) Also, click on the link below, hon, 'cos, for the record, I COULD be the answer to ALL yer prayers!

Yikes! The best thing for laryngitis is rest and plenty of fluids. No talking if you can help it, and certainly no singing. If your laryngitis is due to an infection like strep, you will need antibiotics from the doctor. If this is just practice, if you aren't harboring something contagious, go and sing along mentally, but not actually sing. You will be able to at least be there for any instructions from your choir directors. Believe me, no choir director would want a singer to risk further irritation or damage to the voice.
