She will be leaving in the next week. She is 63, and I would like to keep it as something that she can travel with lightly, as in not pack in a suitcase. Our limit is $100 total between the two of us.

How about some really nice stationary? Even though you'll probably keep in touch via email, one of the coolest things in the world when you live so far from someone is to get a personal handwritten letter in the mail. So you give her some beautiful stationary now. Then after a few weeks of her being gone, send a great letter including all the details of what happening back home. She'll have the stationary to send you a reply. So really it's a gift for both of you. And you'll both have something beautiful to keep forever!

Get pictures of both of you together. the best memories you shared and put it into a photo album. it's easy to carry and it's sweet.
