how many yards of fabric would it take?

I am wanting to make a curtain for my sliding glass window, it is 94 1/2 in x 94 in. About how many yards of fabric am I going to need?

You are going to have to do two panels of fabric, or sew two sections together to fit across the window. You can find home decor fabric that is about 58" wide. For my patio door I used two panels 58" wide (and just put a narrow hem on either side) and about 108" long. Room for a hem and a pocket for the rod to go through. So about 6/7 yards depending on any pattern on the fabric that would have to be matched. 108" divided by 36" (one yard) = 3 times 2 = 6 yards

For the stationary window treatment add for an extra 6" on each side, and if you want to drape it around the pole across the top, multiply the width by 1.5. then you usually drop that down the sides about half the window hight on each side so (96" X 1.5 + 6" + 6" + 48" + 48") or 252" or 21' or 7 yards.

for the moveables, get 60" wide fabric and you will need two times the height of the window plus a few extra inches, or (96" X 2 + 12") or 17' or about 5 and a half yards.

I am very tired and very wrong on my first estimate. You will want three yard lengths of fabric to allow for hem and rod pocket so you want to get at least 15 yards of fabric. Fabric comes in two different widths either will work with the fifteen yard figure but the wider would be best.
