It really doesn't matter. You do not necessary have to dress where your ancestors are from. I have a really good Indian friend, and she comments how Indian women from India, from the modern current generation, generally only wear the Sari for special occasions. She said that when she moved to America, it was the American-born Indians who really believed in wearing the Sari. Of course when you get into the Sari, you have like 16 variations of whatever region your family was from, going with the local language of the region.

The Kilt is something else. Traditionally it's for the man. A traditional kilt for a woman would nearly be full- length. In modern times, women like their kilts shorter and lighter, otherwise known as the kilt skirt. Not many women, including school girls wear theirs to the knees. Most school girls will have them above the knee. This makes the kilt playful and young looking. For the women I know who have actually put on a guys woolen kilt, especially the heavyweight, did not like how heavy and hot they can get. It's like wearing four dress suits at the same time, most being eight yards of wool.

I would just go with what is you.

If you are a woman, you aren't supposed to wear a kilt - they're for men!

It will depend on the circumstances. Wear whatever is appropriate for the place, and occasion.

You could always make a curried haggis....

(I've made moose meat tacos using Indian spicing.... yummy!)

"eating curry or haggis?"

Chicken tikka masala is claimed to be an invention from Glasgow, Scotland, and have applied for protected regional food status.
