Do you have to fast before Glucose Test?

I am having my Glucose test done in 3 weeks @ 3:15pm. Do I have to fast before hand? If not what is ok to eat to not effect the blood test so I don't have to go for the 3 hour one?

Thank you

You should call your doctor's office and ask. Every doctor seems to have a different requirement for this one--my doctor wanted me to fast from midnight the night before, and not eat or drink anything--including water--until the test was done.

Some other doctors just want their patients not to eat from the morning, and let them drink water. Some doctors don't want you to fast at all.

In order for your doctor to get the most accurate results, you should call up and find out exactly what they're looking for from you.

Unfortunately, there's no way to skew the results--either you'll pass or you'll fail. But if you do fail and have to take the three hour, take solace in the fact that only 15% of women who fail the one hour actually have gestational diabetes.

Good luck!

I was told not to bother fasting. With my first, I had some pasta about an hour and a half before the test, and I failed and had to go back for the 3-hour one (that one is a fasting one). I tried some fruit and juice with my second, and failed again. I passed the 3-hour test both times. This time, I am going to book the 1-hour test first thing in the morning and eat absolutely nothing beforehand. I hate the 3-hour one.

I'm having one done and I was told to fast for 16 hours before hand. I think you can just drink water. During the test they will check your glucose level and then give you a sugary drink and then test it again.

hey darling the main suitable suggestion i will provide is : bypass interior the morning. the faster the extra useful. Have possibly a small breakfast like a cup of milk with toast yet attempt to dodge suger. by using fact it may impact the try. approximately 30 minutes after breakfst is maximum suitable time to have the drink on the area & blood try after. it fairly is what my well being practitioner counseled me to do. you dont ought to rapid. only dodge sugery meals. the fasting is that in case you get this try as a good for glucose. then you certainly ought to do the 3hour try which calls for fasting. I did the try 30mins after breakfast & prevented suger. God Bless x Thats a robust breakfast to have which you're having
