Egypt: Inspired by one of yo answers: what do you think the definition of home(country)?

2010-06-20T14:13:46Z

Ya Muslama: let me help a little,, there are two definitions of the word home,, one is emotional, and one is Physical,,, You defined the first one (almost),,,
--
what does it mean Love a place? why we love a place?

2010-06-20T14:33:06Z

haha Caesar has almost answered the physical meaning of Home

2010-06-20T14:56:01Z

Mr.x you have almost define the logical (home)

2010-06-20T16:58:52Z

Emotionally: where you have (good to you) memories and details
Physically: where you live and make a living
Logically where you are proud to belong to, and you feel safe because of it whether you are in it or out of it,,

So Yo,, why you cheer Algeria vs USA and you was born(have memories) , live, and feel safe because of it (you may be proud to belong to both Egypt and USA in the same time,,but not Algeria)

2010-06-20T17:00:42Z

Eman: hahah, Humans can have any shelter,, even in a cave,, but I think the main thing is the memories and the details,,,That what create a HOME

2010-06-20T17:22:47Z

@ Ya YO :First Algerians are not Arabs, and mostly their players,, if they are Arabs why they do not be back their and they made already fortunes ,,Second,, In USA there are more than 6 million Muslims ( could be more),,more the Muslims in most of the Gulf countries,,
Then most of Ghana are Muslims,, besides why do you involve religion in sport. and come on, if you are crying for the Arabs,, go back to Egypt,, (NOW) yes , it is poorer life than what you have now,, but should not you sacrifice that to speak Arabic (which you do not know even well) ?? I was terrified to read your answer,, (ely malosh kheer le baladoh malosh kheer le 7ad) .If I were Obama, i would kick you out of the USA (joking) good night

and who insult my home in where I have memories (Egypt) Adraboh bel gazmah )Muslim or not Muslims, Arabs or not Arabs, and officially most of the Algerians insulted My home (except few),,before and after this football crisis..

2010-06-20T17:34:45Z

Islam is not a race, and not also an ID,,lots of who are called Muslims are not really Muslims,, One definition of Muslims is, who salam el nas from Yadoh we lesanh, (his hand and tongue ),, I think most of the Algerians do not do both,,

i have had this question open for 10 minutes writing erasing thinking....just looking blank at where my answer should be.
there is so much to say yet i cant write anything defenite....
besides it being where ur family and friends are... etc
i want to say more.
this question is an emotional challenge to me cuz i feel i am digging deep in my soul to answer u...
speaking of myself, home is egypt,
i lived abroad alot with my parents ( attache-foreign affairs) due to my dads work , we represented egypt, we were egypt....so being egyptian to me was very special , it was a 'kayan' it was my identity..we used to return to egypt in ramadan and this was such a great home coming...evrything was beautiful in ramadan so it left an impression in my subconcious that egypt is beautiful...

i quess home country is where i belong, where i am a part of the culture, of the people...
it is something inherent(existing as a natural and inseparable quality, ...)
u can change a lot about ur self , ( and/or u take another nationality) but u cant change ur origin ,,ur roots ,,,ur past..
to me my home country is more than skin deep..it is something inborn likre the feeling u have for ur dad, ur mom ,ur religion , ...even if it offers me the minimum of the basics...

i hope i wasnt a drama queen...

Oh yay inspired by me haha. I feel special lol.

I cheer for them b/c theyre arabs and muslims. It doesn't feel right for me to cheer for England or Slovenia when my arab muslim brothers and sisters are playing. My dad and my brother met an Algerian guy at the masjid and they got along well and became friends. Not all Algerians are the same and im not gonna blame all of them b/c of some stupid crazy idiots. That's not fair. That's like saying all arab muslims are terrorists, which isn't true at all. Also, since they are arabs they are probably looked down upon. They never ever achieved anything either. Why not give them this??

Given Egypt wouldve done better, but they didn't make it. Hazana wihish. Oh ya some people cheer for Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Ghana, Portugal, etc., even though it's not their home.

That's just my opinion. I know a lot may not agree but ya.

Home is the first place that pops into your mind when you hear the word "home"
For me: home physically is my house as in right now (not related to place of birth or friends but mostly related to the people in it i.e. family)
home emotionally is the place where I feel safe & that is my house bardo & in my country (Egypt) mosh le7aga 3'er everyone I know & everything I'm used to are all right here so that kinda makes me feel safe & makes me feel like I belong to something or someone & not feeling lost...so I guess that makes home just a state of mind!

The place where you were born including your parents and relatives and where you were raised and grew up, the place where you can connect to when you remember childhood memories and the people that made you who you are and the place that makes you always feel safe and sound.. i think?

Anonymous2010-06-20T13:50:29Z

ummm...my own definition as i feel and thinking of egypt at the moment , it is my origin whether i like it or not , the place where i grew up and had bitter and sweet memories and where my family and friends are!!
i think my answer is kinda superfacial but although i feel angery at many things in the country though one deep inside feels connected to the place where he/she originally from whether good or bad and feel so nostalgia for it always!!

but i usually read that sentence"home is where the heart is" i also kinda agree to it..

hope u get what i wanna say.

edit:
i agree with your details.
