There was a series that aired on The WB (now CW) called "Young Americans".
It starred Katherine Moennig as Jake (Jacqueline) Pratt, a teenage girl who disguises herself as a boy to get the attention of her absent mother. Took place at a boarding school and there was a school rowing team in the series.
