My Outlook won't turn off!?

When I turn off Outlook by hitting the red X in the upper corner, Outlook closes, but it stays in the lower corner of my screen... where the 'running' programs are shown. In other words, it stays running in the background. Even if I right-click on the little icon down there, it does not allow me to close it.

The only way I can shut it down completely is via task manager (End Process). But if I do that, Outlook has to perform a 'recovery' when it starts again.

I have been using Outlook for about 12 years... this has never been a problem before. What have I done? Arghhh!

You need to check every single setting in Outlook and you will find the problem. I detest updates because every single time it updates I have some quirky thing happen and have to search out the setting that caused it.
