Why does my female dog keep trying to hump our little male pup?

We have a small dashund that has been spayed for awhile now,
but yet when she starts playing with our little male terrior, who
is still just a pup, she keeps trying to hump him..... is this normal behavior

After some research,
I found out that this behavior
is to show dominance ....
While it is normal to an extent,
it can get out of hand and
can/must be controlled ...

Yes, She's asserting her dominance.

Yep. I watched an episode of Dog Whisperer and it sounds similar to an extent to the case he had with 2 Rottweilers. Basically after the male had mounted the female (both were fixed), the female did it. According to him, it's a sort of bonding ritual. He went on to say that even though they were both fixed it was the ritual, the motions of the actions that allowed them to bond, not so much the physical.

Yes, it is normal behavior. Some dogs just do that. Eventually she will stop doing it. My dog did the same thing, and she was spayed too. She eventually stopped one day. There's nothing to worry about.
