Besides Muslims did God require fasting from Jews and Christians also?

We know now Jews and Christians rarely fast. Were they required by God in early days of their religion?

When Moses Aleh Salam went on Mt.Sini leaving all Jews behind, Allah made Moses fast for 40 days fduring his spiritual training. At the end Allah gave him ten commandments and also told him that his people has made Calf god and are worshipping it. Allah commanded Moses to have all heads of 12 tribes of Jews to kill with their own hands all those from their tribes who participated in worshipping calf god made from gold. 60,000 Jew were killed by their own leader that day. If they had not obeyed Allah SWT, Allah would havew destroyed all Jews who came from Egypt their freedom from bondage.

Jesus Aleh Salam was a Jew himself and I am sure he and his followers did the prescribed fasting as was done by Moses AS.
Off course Paul hijacked the teachings of Jesus AS and created Catholicism based on Paganism. Christians made Jesus their god, to claim that Christianity is the best religion though Jesus never said in Bible that he is son of God, Lord or God of his followers.

The vast majority of the world's Christians are Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran and Anglican. They all follow virtually the same liturgical calendar. The season of Lent is a 40 day period of fasting. It begins on Ash Wednesday and continues through Holy Week ending on Easter.

Jews fast for a certain holiday. I can't remember which one. Well, observant Jews anyway.

Christians rarely fast. The majority don't. But some more religious ones do fast for a few holidays. Some even fast every Friday during Lent.

As for being required, the Jews that fast do so because it was required of them. Like I said, I can't remember which holiday they fast, but I know they do.

As for Christians, I don't ever remember learning anywhere that it was required of a Christian to fast. I grew up in foster care and lived with families from many denominations of Christianity including Catholicism. The Catholics are the only ones I actually remember fasting, but I don't remember reading it anywhere in the Bible. But according to the Bible, Jesus fasted on numerous occasions.

Oh yes they did coz when Allah swt tells us bout fasting in Surah Baqarah, he tells us this is not something new and this was prescribed to ppl before you too , fasting is meant to make us god concious or to get Taqwah into us :

183. O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2)

peace

Al-Baqoroh 183. O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed TO THOSE BEFORE YOU, that ye may (learn) self-restraint,-

SO, YES! they do. but, as all muslim believe, the teaching of Moses and Jesus has been changed, so I dont know whether they still do that now days or not.
