Will Original Joe's (Taylor St.) ever reopen? They had a major fire last October?

No one answers their website's listed phone no. now? The other location in San Jose just does Not measure up at all..

The new Original: Ever since Original Joe's (144 Taylor St.) burned in 2007, its legions of fans have been wondering when - and where - the old-school San Francisco Italian diner would return.

Lo and behold, word on the street is that the Duggan family owners are in negotiations to take over the North Beach space that currently houses Joey & Eddie's and before that, Moose's (1652 Stockton St.).

Joey & Eddie's chef-owner Joseph Manzare told Scoop in April that he was putting the space on the market, and it looks as if he might have found a buyer. Both parties are mum, but our North Beach spies say the Duggans have been scoping out the space for months, with an Original Joe's opening possible by the end of the year.
