What is the maximum acceptable number of prior partners for a woman...before marriage in Greece?
Trying to understand Greek society and culture...Does a promiscuous woman (who have had many partners) have a chance of marrying well in Greece?
Would a Greek man find it later that he picked a difficult marriage? Any sane person would know not to marry a "party-girl" because they don't make good wife material....but I have seen (in the West...generally) that promiscuous people often completely settle down when they encounter someone they truly really love.
This, of course is totally tabboo in the Muslime world.
@Greek Cigar--I tell u without any second thought whatsoever...you're preaching to the choir !
Yeah, I guess no sensible man, Greek or otherwise, would ask a woman how many partners she'd had. Women cover up and fake their AGE, boobs, hair color, faces, looks, weight, height, their motivations...each and every day of their lives. A woman lies to herself every day in front of the mirror, and one is going to ask how many partners she's had ?? Makes complete sense...
Quite good inputs here from Greek people themselves.
@Airpole-that's a good example of what happens when we judge people based on what we hear about them and what they say they are...rather than spotting it by their actions. Having had sexual partners before doesn't make an individual inelligible for a good marriage. The fact that she has a past should not make any difference. Another fact is that one cannot guarantee virtue in anyone, even a woman who has been as pure as the driven snow before marriage may still be tempted after marriage. And men who have a condescending attitude for woman who'd have past liaisons is most unappealing; well, so long as she wasn't a complete slvt. Sometimes, there is still a borderline or a limit that is acceptable. I say this because I certainly know of many societies all over where it can be pretty galling being married to a woman who so many other guys have 'plundered,' but then, hey, you married her didn't you?
Since I posed this question...this further reinforces my belief (and I'm sure am not the only one who'd had a thought like this) that MARRIAGE FOR ANY OTHER REASON THAN LOVE FOR EACH OTHER WILL MEET DISASTER, DISILLUSIONMENT & DISGUST.
It all happened BEFORE she met you. And, if a man's judgment is so overwhelmingly important to side on the conservative kind, let this woman go. This gives her a chance to find true happiness some day with a man who will love and accept her without reservations. In marriage...love is accepting; unacceptance is judgmental and punishing.
