Why do people intentionally walk on the left side of the hallway, sidewalk, or in the mall?

Is everyone from England or did the rules change from "Stay to your right" to "Stay to your left" overnight?

Dont know approximately England yet like England, we right here in Australia additionally rigidity on the left and that i continually thought that the 'unfastened' rule substitute into which you walk on the left till you're passing a girl, wherein case the guy walks closest to the gutter. I cant remember the acceptable reason for this besides the shown fact that it has some thing to do with chivalry.

I had no idea a walkway was a roadway and that there were some sort of "rules". I've never read any instructions, nor seen any posted signs. I am one of those people who I guess annoys you. I do not think there is a "right" and "wrong". (I do however stay with the flow of the group when something is very crowded...that makes sense). I mean, what do you do if you are walking a certain direction down the street and you want to see in the store windows?

ADD: I knew I would get thumbs down. But aren't you glad that you at least had someone who does it write back to you.. I am answering your question. People who don't do it can't tell you WHY. LOL.

I live with 4 left handed people and they all walk to the left. Do you think there is something to that? I know psychology today did a study on general population and found that if you are right handed you enter a store to the right and go down the aisles to the right. Maybe it's the same thing. and most people are right handed.

If you walk on the left you can see the incoming traffic before run you over, you can do something. If you walk on the right you don´t.
