My dad has an 85 buick century. The car will start but dies as soon as he puts his foot on the gas. Is it the egr valve needing a cleaning or something else that causes this problem?

he put fuel injector in to clean the gas out.

i would check the fuel pump first or throttle body or carb which ever it uses but the egr valve will be in the exhaust normally just past the manifold
Sometimes injector cleaner cuts loose stuff in the fuel tank and lines and can plug the fuel filter not allowing enough fuel to get into the engine. The '85 Century has a 3.8 V6 with throttle body fuel delivery system. Replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been done lately. Don't worry about the EGR valve, your symptoms are different than the EGR would show.
