need some windows replaced in our house...deciding between "thompson creek" and "bge home".. thompson creek makes their own windows...bge home uses "revere" brand windows, berkshire model... prices not finalized yet but thompson creek will probably be around $75-100 per window more..its hard to compare the two because thompson creek makes there own...i've heard mostly good things about thompson creek except that they are expensive...bge home is expensive too but not as bad..prefer going with larger companies for the security of knowing they will be there if something isnt right,etc...both of these companies serve the maryland area.

I would go with Thompson Creek because of their warranty and the quality of the product. The warranty alone is worth the couple extra bucks, they will replace your window even if your kid throws a baseball through it and the energy savings I'm seeing have been around 30%.
I would AVOID long windows. I know lots of people who had bad experiences and just check out their BBB report and you will see why.
According to a recent decorator's magazine, Pella just went around Anderson as the most popular replacement windows. I prefer Jeld-Win windows because of their nice selection of historical wooden windows. But, even if you purchase the most expensive custom built window money can buy, your new window purchase could be ruined by a bad installation. If you purchase from a company, make sure they will be in business as long as their warranty. I think it would be worth it to hire a professional to install your windows to avoid this problem.
If you live in Maryland and you are looking for custom-made windows, you may want to also check out Long Fence and Home. They offer a lot of warranties and their products are made in the USA (Vandergrift, PA). . They've been around since 1945 so they are reliable.
