are there any major issues with replacing the stereo on a 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon?

it has an OLD casette system i want to replace it with my kenwood cd system i have done several stereo's but always in older vehicles

never had computer problems i hoping to avoid that again, i plan to pull out old system and (using chilton/haynes manual) splice into the existing wiring for power and acc and ground, and speakers. i just want to make sure im not gonna screw anything up

i probably will disconnect ground cable from battery during the process are there any issues with my theory???

Thanks Sam

don't wanna buy a harness, waste of money($20) if u know what your doing

just worried about anti theft systems, not sure what was around back then probably nothing just double checking
