I am 36 weeks pregnant (due Oct. 17) with my second child. With my first, my water broke at 38 weeks with no other signs of impending labor... Last night i was up with horrible cramps...they felt like bad menstrual cramps, but there wasn't a pattern or much tightening..I fell back asleep after about 30 minutes. Now all day today i have had mild cramps and heavy mucus like discharge. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I just never experienced it before in my previous pregnancy!

Sounds like BH but they will become more frequently now. You are getting closer to your due date. Drink plenty of water and time your contraction. If the contractions get stronger and more painful, more intense, closer together and appear to be worsening, that's labour. I'm having more vaginal discharge that's normal the closer you get to your due date. Good luck.
Yes I've had horrible cramps and pain for days which turned out to be my body getting ready. I went from 0 to 2 cm dilated in those few days. You have to give it time and the pain will pass. I know, I tried absolutely everything to stop it or to make it feel better but nothing worked. Just one day it totally stopped. The mucus-like discharge you are experiencing is most likely your mucus plug coming out. This can happen all at once or over the course of a few weeks. It's nothing to worry about because it's not an impending sign of labor since it can grow back. Just take it easy and everything will ease up on it's own. If you have trouble sleeping, take some benedryl (my doctor and several others have said it's fine) and take some Tylenol for the pain for the day. Take a warm bath and just relax. Hope you feel better :)
Thats completely prevalent, the toddler starts getting his place to make his way contained in the direction of the start canal. regardless of if, it could nonetheless be some weeks in the previous hard artwork starts. i began out dropping around 36 weeks too and my son advance into born 3 days after his due date
