I am following up a previous question on the ultimate 'survival' pellet gun, Thanks for the great answers on that one. I have a few more questions and your help would once again be much appreciated.
1 - what are the advantages of a multi-pump versus a springer, especially if a gun is to be used for hunting?
2 - What is the durability / life expectancy of the newer nitro gas piston (?) guns? Other models?
3 - What kind of gun requires the absolute least amount of maintenance over its lifetime - a no maintenance option would be best?
4 - Is there such a thing as a durable, powerful air rifle that breaks down into a very small package?

I would be looking for a gun that is very winter capable - I live in Canada so ideally the gun would be able to function down to -20 celcius conditions. Any info on cold-climate suitability would be appreciated.

1-the multi-pump air rifle can be left pumped for a long time because it uses compressed air,
2-I've heard of two cases where the Benjamin nitros have broken before 500shots, but that was a while ago, the nitros will last a while, and can be left ****** for a while because gas cant ware out, also the nitrogen in the nitro piston air rifle functions fine in cold weather(but i don't think any small game will be out in -20 degrees Celsius,)
3-I don't know of any air rifles like that

You have received some excellent answers, some were good enough to be save and I have done that. You don't seem to be getting a lot of answers about a break down rifle. I thought I saw something about that once and did some looking for you. The results are at the site below. It still leaves you with the full length of the stock to deal with but at least the barrel is removable. Have a look see. BTW you get a second barrel with the rifle, one in .177 and the other in .22.
the best airgun ive dealt with is a walther .22 talon magnum it is easy ti use one pump .22 caliber airgun that fires at over 1000 fps and with superior pellets will do 1200 (tested by me at 1230) feet per second..... anything under 600 fps with a .22 is inhumane at killing an animal but this is great for small game up to the size of largest turkey out there
cost is in the 200 amily in usa with a very good 3-9x32 or 40 scope (diffrent stores offer diffrent pack outs)
they are accurate but it does take 55 pounds of force to cock sdo not great for women or kids
ive had 1000 dollar air rifles that did not work half as well and required tons of maintanance
most airguns like this will be needing cleaning and oiling every 500 to 1000 shots (more when hunting) for years of use
i do not know of any take down air rifles but i must say i also would not trust them if i did
ive dealt with many survival take down real .22 and 223 and so on and most dont last good luck and please hunt reponsibly and humanly
last thing the nitro piston is a gimmick help if you shoot in the below freezing weather only and they are gonna leak after about 5000 rounds of ammo which with pellet guns dont take long id avoid them like the plague unless you hunt a lot in winter which will likly freeze your grease and foil your hunting
