Converting various formats to dvd format?

I would appreciate some advice. I have a load of mp4s and .avis and whatever and need to convert them to dvd format. What is the best software for doing this?

Once I have the dvd file I can write it no problem, just need it converted.

Free software would be better but not essential. Just want to know the easiest way to go about this. Cheers for your time.

DVD players can play a variety of formats

The playing is done through what is called a CODEC. They are loaded as drivers by the software you use to play the DVD.
Most regular DVD can play standard video DVD which include IFO, BUP ,VOB files , and if you have a portable DVD player , you can play Divx, avi files or Xvid avi fiels with your usb port .

The software you can use are : Total Video2Dvd , WinAvi Video Converter, and OJOSoft Total Video Converter

Convert various formats video files to dvd format, I don't think there is a free software can help you, I tried many free softwares before, but none of them work well, some poor quality, some even viruses, so I always use a cheap software RZ DVD Creator to convert my video files to dvd format for playable on dvd player, you can have a try, it's easy to use, it can convert any format videos to dvd format, such as convert mp4 and avi videos to dvd format, etc, it's easy to use and works pretty well, I think it will help you to do that easily.

To only convert, you can use Win Video Converter or Imtoo Video Converter. They work well.
But I advise to use Total Video Converter as it converts and burns in just one click.
