how big was the bullet? what calibre of bullet would go through that cleanly? Did the police release that report yet?

I have to say it is still weakly debatable, but judging by the swelling on both sides SOMETHING happened there. Perhaps his father/makeup artists/mafia allies 'beat the crap' out of him after the staging? I doubt it. It must have been a very sharp tipped, tiny bullet that was poorly aimed. Or EXPERTLY aimed by some kind of amazing genius assassin who could calibrate angles to achieve such weak effects without killing the target... but that is not realistic to me at all.
The scenario I could think is the guy held it to his cheek; shooting directly into the fleshy part of the cheeks tearing a small puncture and with the victim having his mouth wide open (screaming for his life, most likely); the bullet evades jaw muscle and somehow doesnt reduce his eye to pulp and exits at high velocity through the left upper jaw. Well I am sure there are 2 sides to why he showed his wounds. However, considering how Taiwan's media doesn't require any actual facts or unbiased evidence to create a story that will whip the "pitchfork and torch welding" masses into a "blood lust" frenzy I am sure it was a good thing that he did show his wounds.
Other wise you would have Apple Daily saying one thing, while China Times says another, China Post reporting on some conspiracy, and Taipei Times giving a different account of the conspiracy while pandering to both sides of the fence. All in all causing the mob happy public attacking Lien, spinning stories of a CCP assassin, and to some government conspiracy to bolster the public's favor for the KMT who had been behind the DPP in the current election polls.

Either way you look at it, things will continue to be tossed about and wild theories will still be there hiding the public from the darker truth behind everything else.

I'm still not convinced. For an exit wound on a miraculous shot through the face, that bandage looks a little small. Moreover, the location indicates it would have torn through his jaw muscle, making it very difficult to chew or talk for quite a long time; both of which, he has been able to do. More evidence is needed.
