Red Devil Cichlids-What are the colors of the young?

I bought 30 quarter size fry from a person who said they were Red Devils, however, they are marked like my Jewel Cichlids, only a darker color, kind of a chestnut brown.

At what age do the young show their adult coloring? Thanks!

This has some great pictures of some juveniles and different coloration as they age:

The ones that are only a few months old do look a lot like Jewel cichlids! If yours are showing some nice colors but still have the striping, they are likely about 4-5 months old.

My Devils are only about 2-3 months and they are starting to grow getting on the fins. Right now they are pretty much white showing few hints of a citrus color. They dont have those bumps on the heads like the midas

something that is below cichlasoma for instance, cichlasoma nigrofasciatum (convict cichlid).experiences exhibit that every one cichlids below cichlasoma are intently comparable. however dont attempt to go breed it with, for instance a severum.they are now not intently comparable and hybridding the two outcome in a blood parrot-like cichlid
