These combination radios / record players were originally made as a nice piece of furniture and were mainly displayed and used in the Lounge room or sometimes Family Room. They were made from the early 30s until the early 60s as tube types but continued into the 70s as Transistor types and after that they were either put in games rooms or stored in the garage or shed and eventually sold for minimal $s or taken to the tip or Charity shops. They are becoming harder to obtain parts for now but in some countries are also becoming collectible. With the advent of reel to reel and Cassette tapes they gradually became obsolete and really dropped out when CDs etc etc.arrived There are still a lot of discs (Records) available in Charity shops or garage sales but have lost favoritism with most people except with Collectors who have enough room in modern homes to display or use them.

It's not antique. The best it can be is vintage, and the worst is just plain old.
