Is it possible to have a shutout if you lose?

So there's a Sharks vs. Ducks game, and the sharks won 1-0. However, that 1 goal was scored when correy perry sent it 200 feet down the wrong end when Hiller went to the bench for the extra attacker on a delayed penalty. Will Hiller officially get a shutout loss on the scorecard? Or is that not possible?

If he wasn't on the ice when the goal was scored, it's not a goal against, just like empty-netters. So yes it would be a shutout. Same goes if you lose 1-0 in a shootout. I remember last year when Brodeur and Lundqvist made around 100 saves combined in a 1-0 shootout win for the Devils. Both got credited with a shutout.

He will not get a shutout as the goal was scored in regulation time. You get credit for a shutout if you lose 1-0 in a shootout loss though.

That counts as a shutout.

I think it's also a shutout if they lose in the shootout, but I'm not 100% on that.

A shutout is a goals-against of 0. If the goalie is on the bench, they don't get the goal-against.

He will not be credited with a shutout but it is possible to have a shutout if you lose in a shootout.. Lets say the game was 0-0 went into OT still 0-0 then he lost in a shootout.. Then he would have a shutout but with an overtime lose

If Hiller was on the bench, then yes it counts as a shutout.
