Am I on the right track to getting accepted into NYU?
I'm 13, in the 8th grade, and I live in SC. Most people consider me to be highly intelligent (no arrogance intended), I'm in the Jr Beta Club, Algebra 1, English 1, and basically every honors class. I'm also in Art Ideals and I took the PSATs recently. My GPA is usually over 3.5 (quickly improving) and I'm considering going to the Governer's School for the Arts and Humanities for my junior and senior years in highschool. NYU is my dream school....period. I was wondering if I'm on the right track to getting accepted into NYU for courses in Arts design etc. Or if I could possibly get a partial/full scholarship to NYU? Also, could you give some tips to further my odds? One more thing, could you give me an insight on what NYU is like (if you attended, of course) because I here that it's amazing. I also plan on residing at NYU. Also, It'd be great if you could give me some pointers on thing to improve my chances. I also do community work, which seems to be a plus.

I'm a senior, I can already tell your really smart and would have an amazing chance of getting into that college. Your like 5 years younger than me and you sound more intelignet and I got accepted into colleges with 50% acceptance rates. And I have taken only 2 honors class. I got 10,000 a year scholarship and I have a 92 average and got a 1600 on the sat. Which is not that good of a score so you will do very good like much better than you realize.
Keep working on it. make sure that you get beyond awesome good grades and at least a 4.0, being accepted into NYU is already challenging and competitive enough. so by the time you graduate, you'll have to be a super genious ( looks like you're really smart ). keep doing community work. get involved in sports or more clubs, be the school/class president. work on receiving any awards. NYU looks for super stars. go above and beyond.... it will get more competitive.
look on their website... college application (get a feel for it, what are they asking?) and if possible try to contact a person who works there and keep in contact with him/her. so they can help you get on the right track to becoming an alumni
also try to visit the university stay for a few days see if you like it. get a "feel for it"
no one could really tell you that unless they attended NYU. Im hoping to pursue the arts career (to be a film director.) Another thing is, your GPA won't count for that much until you hit high school. You have to make sure you are keeping up with your core classes. I too am in all AP classes and it is no cakewalk, but keep working. You seem like you are on a good track.
I think its really scary that you think you already know where you want to go to college. That mean that you are going to exclude experiences that would fulfill you as a person. What happens when you tailor your whole life to getting accepted there and you are rejected. Your whole life wilol have been wasted on a dream that doesnt give a hoot about you. Why dont you try learning how to be happy and accepting of yourself rather than determine your own self-worth by the acceptance of a educational institution.
