What is the prognosis for a child with apraxia who still doesn't speak at almost five?

The child ( a boy ) seems very bright otherwise, solves puzzles, etc. He is also developmentally delayed with respect to motor skills. He is attending a special language school and receives tutoring after hours as well.

Does he make sounds? Communicate with pecs? Any other dx going on? The language acquisition window is beginning to close at this point, he's got a few years left, 5 at most.

prognosis: guarded
(below fair, above poor)

"The prognosis for individuals with apraxia varies. With therapy, some patients improve significantly, while others may show very little improvement. Some individuals with apraxia may benefit from the use of a communication aid." (www.wikipedia.com)
