My friend asked me: What kind of friend do you want me to be ?

I've have had on and off feelings for this guy for quite a while. We're the greatest friends.
I'm the worst at reading obvious signs. Is his question implying mutual friends, friends with benefits, What is he trying to say.

I believe he wants you to be his girlfriend. You need to examine your feelings for him and let him know what you see in the future for the two of you. I don't think he will stop being your friend if that's all you want but the guy is telling you he needs to know where he stands. Good luck!
