What is a good resort for young adults (20's) to stay at WDW?

My friends and I are in college, and we're wanting to take a trip to Disney World. A few of us have been before (I was there recently) but of course, we've always stayed with parents who chose the hotel.

We're thinking of staying in a Fort Wilderness cabin to cut on food costs, since we're paying for everything. Does anyone else know have any experience with a resort that would be good for college kids?

In all honesty I would suggest any of them BUT the cabins. Most of them are out in the middle of nothing and you have to hike to get to the bus, hike to get to any pool, etc, etc, etc.

My guess is that you guys are going to be in the parks all day thus really you are only going to save on breakfast. If you want a good savings the meal plan is great. For a little more than $40 a day you can get one snack (anything under $8), one quick serve (example: salad, personal pizza, drink, snack) and a sit down (fancy meals, character meals, buffets). We always get it and save a poop load. Even then other than the value resorts the rooms have a mini fridge and there are stores in each of the resorts that sell breakfast food. You can always buy a box of cereal and half gallon of milk and keep it in your room. Could always bring breakfast bars or other food items from home too.

With the resorts the value resorts are by far the cheapest and, depending on what time of the year you go, can cost as little as $73 a night. But again, to be honest if you are planning on spending most of your time at the parks then resorts are no biggie since you wont be there much.

You can always skip on the park hopper option to save on the cost too.

Have a great time.

I think you should try to stay at the Boardwalk Inn! That's where the only real bar is in Disney that is close to a resort. There are also several restaurants on the Boardwalk as well as the ones across in the Beach Club/Yacht Club resort. It's walking distance to Epcot and Disney Hollywood Studios. Of all the villas in Disney World, the ones at the Boardwalk and Beach Club are the cheapest, although they'll still be quite a bit more expensive than cabins at Fort Wilderness. But the villas have the full kitchen that you're wanting.

I'm not sure if Fort Wilderness will be your thing. Does your group all enjoy camping? Or would they rather be around all the Disney action? Fort Wilderness isn't in the middle of all the Disney bustle the way that some of the resorts are. I also heard that the transportation over there can be kind of a pain because some cabins are kind of far from the bus stop and the ferry to Magic Kingdom. So if you don't have your own car, getting to where you need to go may be time consuming. But this would probably be the most economical choice other than a suite at All Star Music. But neither of these places would be very fun for a college group in my opinion.

No matter what resort you stay at, you will have an amazing time - just remember that, first and foremost.

Because you seem to be watching the budget, I have to suggest Pop Century. It is one of the value resorts, but you'd never guess it by going there. It is an AMAZING resort - so much fun, great cast members, very clean, bright, just one of my favorite places to be anywhere in the world. The prices can be really really low too, especially during value season. You should check out wdwinfo.com and the message boards there disboards.com - people there are Disney experts and will help you immensely.

Yes, that would definitely help since you have a full kitchen. There are also lots of rental houses and villas, but you would have to provide your own transportation to the parks and pay for parking. That is probably your cheapest option on Disney property with a full kitchen. It's a fun place to stay, too. There are lots of activities there - you could probably stay just at the resort for several days and have fun!

Otherwise, of course all Disney hotels have lots of kids. The Coronado Springs might be a nice choice. It's a nicer hotel, and it is a convention hotel, meaning it obviously attracts lots of single business travelers and not little kids everywhere 24/7.
