This is a psychological phenomenon in which individuals tend to seek out information that confirms their existing beliefs. It's a shame that those existing beliefs are derogatory of the faith of others.
I was incredulous about the app so I read a few stories about it - turns out the app is designed only to assist someone with preparing for confession via a very well-established practice called an Examination of Conscience. I can't think of a reason why non-Catholic Christians would object to the Examination of Conscience, which consists of spending time with the Lord and thinking about ways that a believer has sinned, missed an opportunity to serve the Lord, or ways that he or she could serve the Lord better.
Mere bigotry is a toothless tiger & takes no "bites" into the real violations done by the Vatican.
If your going to attack, then use the "teeth" of facts, the Vatican violations against doctrine & sacraments. Useful "tigers" are important, meant to purge error, --but toothless critiquing achieves nothing. Where are the critics?
